Karma is some kind of action, work or deed. Good deeds results in good effects to you. Bad deeds results in bad things happening to you. In Reddit it is implemented via upvoting and downvoting of posts/comments. Having more Karma enables more things you can do like posting in big subreddits forums. It is like a kind of reputation you accumulate.
